• First-time travelers must have 3+ years of ICU experience and EPIC experience
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• ICU duties in MICU/SICU/TICU/CVICU in a Level 3 trauma hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratios 1:1–2; may flex to 1:3 or 1:1 for high acuity
• Uses EPIC EMR for documentation
• Night shift 12-hour shifts 7p–7a; 6-week blocks
• May have 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
• Occasional holiday rotation and rare call/standby
• Float within a defined zone; aim to minimize float across far facilities
• Titrate critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin
• Designated Charge Nurse on each unit; no nurse aides except sitter needs
• Assist with respiratory care troubleshooting and RT support

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers must have 3+ years of ICU experience and EPIC experience
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Combination ICU setting (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, etc.) in a Level 3 Trauma acute care hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-2 depending on acuity, may flex up to 1:3, and 1:1 for high acuity patients (CRRT, IABP, Impella, etc.)
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a), scheduled in 6-week blocks by leadership
• 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6 week schedule
• May be asked to go into the holiday rotation
• Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
• Located in a float zone where facilities are spaced far apart, so floating is not typically required except in extreme need within the zone
• Titration of critical drips required including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
• Designated Charge Nurse on each unit who does not typically take a patient assignment
• No nurse aides on the unit, except for sitter needs
• Designated Respiratory Therapist for ICU, though not onsite 24/7; RNs expected to assist with respiratory troubleshooting and management
• Respiratory equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and breathing treatments
• No monitor tech on the unit; RNs are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• Unit/department orientation consists of 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Provide direct patient care to a combination ICU population including high acuity patients
• Assist in respiratory care troubleshooting alongside designated RT support
• Read and interpret own telemetry strips without a monitor tech
• Scrub color/dress code is open to any color
• Must reside within 60 miles of the zone's city center, as this determines float zone eligibility
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates should be in-state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
• First-time travelers may be considered with required experience thresholds
