American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro critical care skills for a night shift in Chesapeake, VA.

Active Virginia or Compact RN license required with BLS/ACLS and NIHSS certification; three years of CCU experience preferred and expertise in ventilator management and arterial lines. Responsibilities include caring for ICU patients across Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma units, with Epic EMR usage and a 19:00–07:30 schedule.

• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Three years of critical care experience preferred.
• Strong neuro critical care experience required.
• Ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry, sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition.
• Emergency response and critical care management experience.
• IV therapy, arterial line care, blood products, central and PICC line care.
• Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning.
• CVP monitoring, renal failure management, CRRT/CVVHD preferred.
• Continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titration of vasoactive drips.
• Neurological care including stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains; post-craniotomy care preferred.
• Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury preferred.

Responsabilidades

• ICU coverage across Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma ICU patients.
• Typical patient ratio 1:2-3.
• Night shift 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30); 3x12 and 48-hour options available.
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage within the contract.
• Floating to Stepdown, ED, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing across ICU specialties.
• Complete 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules.
• Two professional references required; copies of driver’s license and SSN.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro critical care skills for a night shift position requiring an active VA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Three years of critical care experience preferred
• Strong neuro critical care experience required
• Proficiency with ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Experience with emergency response and critical care management required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and suctioning
• Experience with CVP monitoring, renal failure management, and CRRT/CVVHD preferred
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience managing neurological conditions including CVA/stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy care preferred
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury preferred
• No prior license or background hits permitted for consideration
• Must pass facility fit testing; PAPR accommodations are not available
• Must pass EKG/telemetry competency test with a score of 80% or higher, with no remediation available

Responsibilities

• ICU setting with coverage of Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma ICU patients
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30), with 3x12 and 48-hour contract options available
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required within the contract
• Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties including neuro, trauma, surgical, and medical ICU patients
• Complete 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• RTO requests must be submitted with application and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
