Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an ICU Registered Nurse with a California license for a 13-week night assignment focused on critical care and ventilator management in a hospital setting.

The role requires BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and MAB Training, with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience and Epic EMR proficiency. Expect 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM shifts, 1:2 patient ratio, and strong advocacy for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• MAB Training required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration.
• Ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning.
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Experience multisystem organ dysfunction management.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• CVA/acute stroke management experience.
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year.

Responsibilities

• ICU setting within a hospital environment.
• Patient ratio of 1:2.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Epic charting system required.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation based on patient age, condition, and culture.
• Demonstrate leadership on the unit and participate in multidisciplinary care conferences.
• Act as patient and family advocate throughout care process.
• Preferred experience includes charge nurse, teaching hospital, traumaLevel I/II settings.

Requirements

• Preferred skills include cardiac surgery care (CABG, ECMO, Impella, IABP, TAVR, VAD), CRRT/CVVHD, chemotherapy administration, and neuro critical care (EVD, ICP monitoring, TBI, spinal cord injury)
• Experience in Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU settings preferred
• Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local rate
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request permitted per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• First-time travelers not considered for this role
