Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment in Idaho. The position requires 2+ years ICU experience and an RN license (ID or compact). Night shift is 12 hours from 7p to 7a in a combined SICU/MICU unit with 1:1 to 1:2 ratios.

Expect to titrate vasoactive and insulin drips, monitor telemetry with Spacelabs, and document in EPIC EMR. Travelers may float to other ICUs within the valley.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ID or compact) required at time of consideration.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Ability to titrate vasoactive drips and insulin.
• Driver's license required for consideration.
• Two professional references: 1 supervisor (last 12 months) and 1 peer/supervisor (last 3 years).

Responsibilities

• Care for SICU/MICU patients with 1:1 to 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Titrate drips such as dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, and insulin.
• Monitor telemetry strips and document in EPIC EMR.
• Provide 12-hour night shift coverage (7p-7a).
• Float to other ICUs in the Valley as needed.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of ICU experience and an ID or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (ID or compact) required at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Experience in a similar size or larger ICU and hospital preferred
• No prior experience required with open hearts, CRRT, ECMO, or balloon pumps
• Must be able to titrate common vasoactive and insulin drips
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Combined SICU/MICU unit with 16 beds each, staffed as a combined 32-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:2
• Cares for CABG, CVA, subarachnoid and intracerebral hemorrhage, GI bleeds, DKA, STEMI, septic shock, overdose, respiratory failure, and neuro surgery patients
• No trauma, burn, or transplant patients on this unit
• RNs required to titrate drips including dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, cardene, nitro, neo, vasopressin, diltiazem, insulin, and esmolol
• RNs monitor and read their own telemetry strips using Spacelabs equipment
• 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy and hospitalist/intensivist coverage
• CNA support at approximately 1:8 ratio
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other or half of weekends required
• Holiday coverage required as needed, with efforts made to accommodate requests
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required to other ICUs in the Valley (Meridian and Nampa Medical Centers) and may include floating outside ICU as a 1:1 sitter
• Travelers are typically scheduled to fill needs after permanent staff, with efforts made to group night shifts and honor self-scheduling requests
• 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• No specific scrub color or dress code requirement
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
• Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers may be considered
