Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Michigan. The role requires 2+ years ICU experience, open heart exposure, and an active MI RN license with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

The ICU unit features 404 beds with patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:4 for step-down. Floating to ED/step-down is expected; Cerner EMR is used. Local candidates within 35 miles are considered local travelers with adjusted pay. Navy blue scrubs are required.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Open heart experience required
• Compact licenses not accepted
• Must be comfortable floating to ED and Step-down units
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
• TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, and SCRN certifications are a plus
• Neuro surgical experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Critical Care unit in a 404-bed acute care hospital
• ICU patient ratios of 1:2 (1:1 for special populations); step-down ratio of 1:4
• Floating required to Emergency Department and Step-down unit, including ED patients on holds
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required, with at least 2 shifts requested from each shift block
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week assignment
• Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans
• Delegate and oversee tasks for Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, and other support staff
• Evaluate effectiveness of care plans and adjust as needed
• Serve in a leadership role including precepting new employees and students
• Participate in patient care conferences and discharge/transfer planning
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Local candidates within a 35-mile radius of the facility are considered local travelers with adjusted pay rates
• Maximum of 5 days RTO may be requested during the assignment
• Strict three-strike attendance policy in effect; excessive absences or tardiness may result in termination from the assignment
