Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a brand-new off-campus Emergency Department in Washington. The role requires 2+ years of ER experience and an active WA or compact RN license. Certifications including BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS, TNCC are required.

You'll work in a 24/7, 8–10 bed ED with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and 6:1 fast-track. Ventilator care, complex procedures, and medication mixing are part of daily duties, using EPIC EMR and Pyxis systems.

Qualifications

  • Active WA or compact RN license required.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required.
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a newly opened off-campus Emergency Department (8–10 beds) open 24/7.
  • Care for a mix of neonatal to geriatric patients, including 25% pediatric cases.
  • Manage walk-in traumas and diverse cases including cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, and psych.
  • RNs handle ventilator/BiPAP care as no RTs are onsite.
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 with fast-track 1:6 (RN, NP).
  • Mix medications under pharmacy supervision via video conference.
  • Use EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis system.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a brand-new off-campus Emergency Department requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
  • Minimum 2 full years of ER experience (any trauma level)
  • Strong ED skills including ventilator/BiPAP management, medication mixing, chest tubes, central lines, and IV insertion
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start
Responsibilities
  • Work in a newly opened off-campus Emergency Department (8-10 beds) open 24/7
  • Small acute care setting seeing patients from neonates to geriatrics, including 25% pediatric cases
  • Manage walk-in traumas and a wide variety of cases including cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, and psych
  • No RTs onsite, so RNs manage ventilator and BiPAP care
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with fast-track team ratio of 1:6 (RN, NP)
  • Support staff includes charge nurse, ED MD, ER tech, front desk, and EST/phlebotomy for blood draws
  • Mix own medications under pharmacy supervision via video conference
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
  • No floating required
  • 12-hour Mid shift schedule with possible start times of 1100, 1300, or 1500
  • Works a 6-week rotating schedule with every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday or 50% of holidays
  • May be asked to serve as charge nurse, with facility-provided training if needed
  • Orientation includes 1 hospital orientation day, an 8-hour respiratory class, and 1 full day on the unit
  • BiPAP ventilator training provided during onboarding
  • Scrubs of any color are acceptable
