Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for an Emergency Department assignment in an acute care hospital setting. The role requires 2+ years ED experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Shifts are 12-hour days with 36 hours per week guaranteed, 13-week contract, with start Sep 28, 2026. 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a start times; weekend requirements and orientation included.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license (NE state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Department experience required
  • Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, and HSS Team (workplace violence training), all must be active
  • Copy of driver's license required for residency verification
  • Two professional references: one supervisor within last 12 months, one within last 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Provide ED nursing care in a certified stroke center ED with 18 beds
  • Maintain patient ratios 1:4-5 based on acuity and shift needs
  • Utilize EPIC EMR and TeleHealth services for patient management
  • Adhere to dress code and complete orientation requirements

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years ED experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting in a certified stroke center Emergency Department with 18 beds/trauma bays
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5 based on acuity
  • Treats all age groups presenting with chest pain, abdominal pain, cough/congestion, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, behavioral health, sepsis, and stroke
  • High acuity patient population with common drips including antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications
  • Uses EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps
  • Utilizes TeleHealth services
  • Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
  • 12-hour day shifts available across 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a start times
  • Schedule set by leadership based on unit needs, self-scheduling and block scheduling not typically available
  • Every other weekend required
  • No floating required
  • 36 hours per week guaranteed
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NE state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Department experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, and HSS Team (workplace violence training), all must be active and current
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration and to verify residence location
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Focus on purposeful rounding and delivering high-quality emergency care
  • Looking for someone with a passion for emergency medicine, a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and compassion for patients
  • Self-starter mentality encouraged, comfortable asking questions when needed
  • Navy blue scrubs required per dress code
  • 2 shifts of unit/department specific orientation provided
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
  • Must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation (open book, 90% required to pass)
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
  • Candidates may not be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
  • Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved after submission
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this role
