American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a combined ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed unit at a rural critical access hospital in North Dakota. ACLS, PALS, TNCC and BLS are required with 2 years of RN experience. Shift is 12 hours (0645-1915 and 1845-0715).

• Knowledge of dementia, stroke, and geriatric skin care.
• No prior travel nursing experience required.
• Two professional references with dates of employment and rehire eligibility.
• Copy of driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across ER, MedSurg, and Swing Bed in a 25-bed rural hospital.
• Nurse to patient ratio 1:8 with team nursing model.
• Read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips independently.
• Titrate drips including electrolytes, hypertensive meds, IV antibiotics, and transfusions.
• Float to ER/MedSurg support areas as needed.
• First orientation provided; CNAs on each shift; Epic EMR utilized.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a combined ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed unit at a rural critical access hospital, requiring ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications and 2 years of experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required and must be active, pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Understanding of dementia, stroke, and geriatric skin care required
• No previous travel nursing experience required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Critical access, rural hospital setting with 25 beds
• Combined ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed unit
• Acute care patient population including dementia, diabetes, rehab/restorative care, IV medication administration, wounds, and initial trauma care
• Also cares for geriatric patients with general rehab post-surgery and exacerbation of chronic illnesses
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:8 utilizing team nursing model
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (0645-1915 and 1845-0715)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Team scheduling with block scheduling available upon request
• No call or standby requirements
• First to float, with floating to ER/MedSurg support areas
• Charge nurse present each shift, working as part of team assignment rather than individual patient assignment
• CNAs/Nurse Aides present on each shift
• Uses Epic EMR
• RNs must titrate drips including electrolytes, hypertensive medications, IV antibiotics, and blood transfusions
• RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips
• Patient-managed CPAP only for respiratory equipment
• Provide direct patient care across ER, MedSurg, and Swing Bed patients in a rural critical access hospital
• Troubleshoot patient-managed CPAP equipment as needed
• 3 shifts of unit/department specific orientation provided
• Scrubs required, no specific color mandated
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Cancellation policy allows 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks
