Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position at a critical access hospital. Requires TNCC certification, OR RN license, and 3+ years of ED experience.

This travel assignment includes night shifts (3x12s), a 1:4 patient load, and mandatory holiday coverage. Benefits include housing assistance and travel reimbursements, with resources for licensure and CEUs.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department at a critical access hospital with 23 staffed beds
• Treat both adult and pediatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating to other units and sister facilities based on staffing
• Provide emergency care across trauma, cardiac, neuro, and pediatric cases
• Perform triage and use isolation precautions/PPE
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Scrubs as listed; scrubs provided for OR/L&D roles
• No parking fee at the facility
• First-time travelers considered if ED experience present
• Permanent staff must wait 3 months before returning as traveler
• Local candidates accepted at lower bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring TNCC certification and 3+ years of ED experience at a critical access hospital.

Requirements

• Active OR RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
• NRP certification preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, blood product administration, and arterial line management
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with trauma cases including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and spinal cord injuries
• Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA and traumatic brain injury
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Responsibilities

• Critical access hospital Emergency Department with 23 staffed beds
• General ED treating combined adult and pediatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating to other units and sister facilities based on skill set and staffing needs
• Epic charting system used
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric presentations
• Perform triage and apply isolation precautions/PPE as needed
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-submission requests may not be granted
• Any color scrubs accepted, with scrubs provided for OR/L&D roles
• No parking fee at this facility
• First-time travelers will be considered only if they have appropriate ED experience
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
