Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN for a night shift in a 29-bed Emergency Department. TNCC and NIHSS certifications required; IN or Compact RN license active. Expect a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with a 19:00–07:30 schedule and a 13-week assignment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Experience in high-volume ED settings is advantageous.
• Strong communication, prioritization and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients in a 29-bed ED.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage according to protocols.
• Initiate and manage emergency nursing interventions for critically ill patients.
• Administer medications, treatments and IV therapies safely.
• Assist with emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations and cardiac events.
• Collaborate with physicians, EMS, respiratory therapy, lab, radiology and staff.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement and departmental education initiatives.

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) currently in hand
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (AHA required for BLS, ACLS, PALS)
• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience required
• 5+ years emergency nursing experience preferred
• Previous high-volume Emergency Department experience preferred
• Strong communication, prioritization, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• 29-bed Emergency Department serving patients across all age groups
• Fast-paced, high-acuity clinical setting requiring rapid decision-making and multitasking
• Night shift schedule, 19:00-07:30
• 13-week assignment
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage according to department protocols
• Initiate and manage emergency nursing interventions for critically ill and injured patients
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies safely and accurately
• Assist with emergency procedures, trauma resuscitations, and cardiac emergencies
• Collaborate with physicians, EMS personnel, respiratory therapy, laboratory, radiology, and ancillary staff
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental education activities
