Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Cerner experience and prior travel nursing experience.

You will work evenings, 3x12s, 36 hrs/week on a Magnet Hospital with 13 weeks duration. The role includes travel-specific stipends and on-unit duties, with certifications and references required for consideration.

Qualifications

  • Active MO RN license or Compact license at time of consideration.
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required.
  • Prior travel nursing experience required.
  • Cerner charting experience required, no exceptions.
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.
  • CPI certification required starting January 2026.
  • Must pass EKG exam on orientation day with 80% or higher.
  • Experience with 1:4 patient ratios.
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
  • Copy of certifications and at least one reference required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency care across pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological and trauma cases.
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy and administer emergency medications including vasopressors.
  • Manage cardiac monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias; obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG.
  • Apply splints and manage orthopedic trauma cases.
  • Follow PPE and isolation protocols; perform triage.
  • Complete required CEUs promptly for ED/ER placements.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Cerner experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details
  • Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Evening shift, 3x12 hours (14:45-3:15)
  • Every other weekend required, including at least 2 Sundays and 2 Mondays
  • Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
  • Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements

  • Experience with 1:4 patient ratios
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Copy of certifications required for consideration
  • At least one reference required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care across pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors
  • Manage cardiac monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG
  • Apply splints and manage orthopedic trauma cases
  • Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols; perform triage
  • Complete required CEUs promptly: 4 stroke, 8 trauma, and 4 cardiac CEUs for ED/ER placements
  • Complete non-billable HealthStream education modules prior to start, averaging 8 hours, and monitor email regularly for new assignments throughout the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Previous staff must have a break in service of at least 1 year before returning
