Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift travel assignment in Illinois. Requires IL RN licensure and 2+ years ER experience, with critical care skills and active ACLS/BLS/PALS/NIHSS certification.

The role entails 3x12 hour nights, patient load 1:3, and potential float across campuses. EPIC charting, high-acuity care, and post-arrest management are expected. Navy scrub color; first-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS.
• Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC, ENPC.
• RQI cards not accepted for certification verification.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Acute care ED setting with Magnet designation.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Patient ratio of 1:3; every other weekend.
• May float between campus locations and inpatient floors.
• EPIC charting system used.
• Manage high-acuity ER patients including central/arterial lines and chest tubes.
• Respond to code strokes, STEMI codes, and code blue activations.
• Care for pediatric patients and transfers; mental health cases awaiting placement.
• Participate in post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols and intubations.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment requiring IL RN licensure and 2+ years of ER experience.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC, ENPC
• RQI cards not accepted for certification verification
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience in triage and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Experience with care of ventilated patients and continuous IV sedation preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital Emergency Department setting with Magnet designation
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• May float between campus locations and to inpatient floors as needed within scope
• EPIC charting system used
• Manage high-acuity ER patients including central line, arterial line, and chest tube insertions
• Respond to code strokes, STEMI codes, code blue team activations, and trauma cases
• Care for pediatric patients and transfers, sexual assault cases, and mental health patients awaiting placement
• Participate in post cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols and intubations
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
• RTO limited to 7 days within the 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain in a standard assignment for up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
