Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for Emergency Department night shifts in California. CA RN license and at least 2 years of ER experience are required. BLS, ACLS, and PALS are preferred or required per policy. Open to new travelers with prior ED experience (3 years preferred).

The role covers a 3x12 hour schedule 1900-0730 with weekend rotation, no on-call, and an assignment length of 16 weeks. Local candidates may be paid at local rate; travel allowances apply.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required, 3 years preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• New travelers accepted if they have prior ED experience, 3 years preferred
• Experience with a broad range of ED conditions including trauma, cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and pediatric emergencies

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
• Weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Approximate patient ratio of 1:4
• 16-week assignment length
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process across assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Manage care for assigned patients and direct activities of ancillary staff
• Work closely with nursing peers, physicians, and allied support services
• Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration preferred
• Local candidates accepted at the local rate
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius unless approved for travel rate
• Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Only 1 holiday may be requested off per contract, with holiday blackout dates including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
