Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift travel assignment in California. Active CA RN license required with in-hand status. Minimum 1 year ER and 1 year acute care experience, plus in-hand ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.

Epic EMR experience is required and must be listed in the work history. The role involves triage, diverse emergencies, and strict isolation protocols with a 3x12 schedule and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in-hand at time of application (EMS A not accepted).
• Minimum 1 year ER experience; 1 year acute care required.
• In-hand certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, PALS.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department care for all ages (adult/pediatric).
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30, Sun–Sat.
• Float and weekend coverage.
• Provide care across cardiac, neuro, respiratory, ortho, pediatric, and psychiatric emergencies.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and an active CA RN license.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in the ER specialty required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Required certifications in-hand: ACLS, BLS, CPI (Blue Card from Crisis Prevention Institute only), NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: NRP, TNCC
• Epic EMR experience required and must be noted in work history
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG, IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and procedural sedation
• Experience with emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients
• Experience managing trauma, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency cases
• Two supervisor references required at time of application
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department setting serving all patient age groups, combined adult/pediatric
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30, Sunday through Saturday
• Float required
• Weekend coverage required
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of conditions including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, orthopedic, pediatric, and psychiatric emergencies
• Perform triage and maintain isolation precautions/PPE protocols
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former permanent staff must be gone a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days of RTO preferred per 13-week contract
• Manager may or may not conduct an interview prior to assignment start
