Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night assignment in Kansas. Qualified candidates hold KS or Compact RN licensure and TNCC, with ACLS and BLS, NIHSS and PALS certifications. Minimum 2 years ER experience and telemetry interpretation skills are required.

Position includes a high-volume ED with 24/7 RT support, telemetry reading, and Epic EMR use. Travel housing allowances and licensure reimbursements are provided; orientation and rotations may include float within

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
• RT available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs.
• Float within the hired zone's ERs as needed.
• Use Epic EMR for documentation.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring KS or compact RN licensure and TNCC certification.

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
• BSN not required
• Must be able to independently interpret telemetry strips
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care Emergency Department (non-trauma, Accredited Chest Pain Center, Stroke facility)
• Mixed ER holds within the department with no separate Psych/seclusion rooms
• Treats an average of 30 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• RT available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
• RNs are trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• No monitor techs on unit; RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Techs support unit secretary duties and assist nurses with triage and floor care
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts
• Works 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required within the hired zone's ERs, including potential float within Zone 4 during extreme need
• No call or standby requirement
• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department treating a variety of acute conditions
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility's city center to meet local residency requirements for this zone
• Travelers are responsible for securing housing that allows them to meet the full float radius requirement within the zone
• Orientation includes 12 hours, with in-state presence required during orientation week even if initial modules are remote
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
