Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Dept RN with 2+ years of ER experience and a TX or compact RN license for an evening shift assignment.

Responsibilities include treating adult and pediatric emergencies in a general ED, supporting STEMI/Stroke certified facilities, and working 2:00 PM–2:00 AM with 4x12h shifts and weekend coverage. Local radius constraints apply.

Qualifications

• Active TX license or compact RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years ER experience.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Pediatric and adult emergency care experience.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Treat adult and pediatric patients in a General Emergency Department.
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility.
• Evening shift, 4x12 hours, 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM.
• May consider 36 hrs/week schedule.
• 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks; on-call shift.
• 1:4 patient ratio; Allscripts experience preferred.
• Provide emergency care across acute pediatric and adult conditions.
• Complete facility drug screen on arrival; CBD/cannabis avoidance.
• Lab work completed within 72 hours or with plan.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Dept RN with 2+ years of ER experience and a TX or compact RN license for an evening shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in managing pediatric and adult emergency cases including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, seizures, and infections
• Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and managing violent behavior
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Skilled in orthopedic trauma care including splinting
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and triage protocols

Responsibilities

• Work in a General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Evening shift, 4x12 hours, 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM
• May consider 36 hrs/week schedule
• 4th shift (if 4x12s) may be 12p-12a or 11a-11p
• 6 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule (Saturday and/or Sunday)
• One on-call shift per 6 week schedule
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Allscripts charting system experience preferred
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of acute adult and pediatric conditions
• Must complete facility-administered drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana testing; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates should avoid any substances that could result in a positive drug screen, including CBD products
• Clinicians must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a documented completion plan
• Non-billable orientation modules required, averaging 6-8 hours
• Hard document due date is Thursday at 2pm CST prior to start, with possible flexibility case-by-case
• Previous permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Must reside within 150 miles for local candidate consideration as this is a radius-based role
• Local candidates not accepted outside the defined radius
