Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment in California. This role requires 2+ years of ER experience and active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications. Epic EMR experience is required and the candidate must reside within 50 miles of the facility.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ER experience and ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS (MAB preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilator patient care
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care/management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
• Experience with ICP monitoring preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and triage protocols
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a 392-bed acute care hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required between like units and potentially sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide emergency nursing care including triage, cardiac monitoring, and management of critically ill patients
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Free parking provided onsite
• Any scrub color permitted
• Must be available to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO must be submitted at time of application and limited to minimize delays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
