Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and CPI certification.

Details

Combined adult/pediatric general Emergency Department in a Trauma Level, STEMI, and Stroke Certified facility
Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
On-call required every other weekend
Patient ratio of 1:4
Epic charting system experience preferred
No call-in shifts allowed

Requirements

Active RN license (LA or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
AHA-issued ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
CPI certification required or must be obtained prior to start
NIHSS certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
Proficient in triage and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including suicidal patients and acute psychosis
Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care
Experience with ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and intubation support
Up-to-date NURSYS report required

Additional Information

Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including respiratory, neurological, and orthopedic emergencies
May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergency events, requiring extended on-site presence until relief arrives
Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RN) required prior to start, though not required for initial consideration
Orientation held five days a week
Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Previous Ochsner Health System employees (permanent staff or in-house agency) must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer complications
