Required IL RN license, active certifications (BLS/ACLS/PALS or ENPC, TNCC or TNS), and 2+ years ED experience; travel preferred. Travel stipends and benefits apply.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level 1 trauma center night shift position requiring ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Details
  • Level 1 trauma center Emergency Department with 65 private beds and 2 trauma bays
  • Wide variety of patient population from newborns to the elderly, including critically ill and trauma patients
  • Nurse to patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity and departmental needs
  • Level 1/2 trauma patients are cared for by a specialized trauma team; travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients once transferred to a pod
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Positions are not day/night rotating
  • Every other weekend rotation required, typically resulting in a 2 on/4 on pattern
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday or based on department needs, negotiable based on contract
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Rare floating possible to other units as a 'help all' only
  • ED techs present with 1:9 ratios
  • Respiratory therapists assist with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment
  • Monitor tech present using Phillips telemetry monitors; nurses must be able to interpret and act on rhythms
  • Radiology staff or transport handle X-Ray/CT transport
  • Nurses and techs draw labs, with some boarder labs drawn by phlebotomy
  • Minimum of 3 attending physicians staffed at all times
  • 2 charge nurses per shift who may assist as second nurse in traumas or critical patients
  • 24/7 house supervisor coverage
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNS
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred
  • SANE RN experience preferred
  • Experience at a teaching hospital with residents preferred
  • Must be proficient in vasopressor drips, cardiac drips, antihypertensive medications, and titration of critical care drips
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care to a wide range of patients including strokes, heart attacks, and cardiac arrest cases on a regular basis
  • Titrate a variety of critical care drips
  • Interpret and act on telemetry rhythms and recognize life-threatening rhythms
  • Will be oriented to Phillips telemetry monitor equipment
  • No specific scrub color required, but tasteful, solid-colored shirts expected
  • 12 hours of non-billable orientation required
  • Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
  • No radius rule restricting eligibility for the position
  • First-time travelers may be considered, though prior travel experience is preferred
