Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cath Lab position in a hospital setting in California. The role requires a valid CA RN license, BLS/ACLS and NIHSS, and at least 2 years of cath lab experience.

The nurse will perform left/right heart catheterizations and IABP in a fast-paced acute care unit. Shifts are 4x10 hours (7:00 AM–5:30 PM) with on-call duties; travel accommodations, housing allowances, and licensure reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in hand at submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS also required
• 2 years of cath lab experience preferred
• Experience with medications including antihypertensives and IV vasopressors preferred
• Experience with procedural sedation administration/monitoring and thrombolytics preferred
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience preferred
• Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias and ventilator management skills preferred
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital Cath Lab unit responsibilities
• Diagnostic cardiac cath lab procedures including left and right heart catheterization and IABP placement/removal
• Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per contract
• On-call responsibilities required with 30-minute response time, averaging 10 call shifts in a 6-week period including one weekend
• No floating required between units
• Uses Epic for charting
• Provide direct patient care in a diagnostic cardiac cath lab setting
• IR experience is a plus
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
• RTO must be submitted upfront at time of submission; limited flexibility for additional time off once contracted
• Scrub color navy blue; Cath Lab scrubs provided
• Facility does not accept Nursys or background check hits
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as travel employee and must not live within 50 miles of facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
