American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN for night shifts in Washington. Requires a WA or compact license and at least 2 years of CVICU experience, with ACLS/BLS. Epic EMR proficiency and vent/line management experience are required.

The role involves floating to sister Providence Health System facilities, open-heart and post-procedural care, and 3x12 hour nights with every other weekend. Housing and travel benefits are included.

Responsibilities

• Unit has 21 beds; high-acuity ICU care.
• Utilize ventilators, IABP, temporary pacemakers, and related devices.
• Night shift 3x12 hour shifts (19:00–07:30).
• Every other weekend; float between units and facilities.
• No on-call requirements; Epic EMR used.
• Provide critical care nursing for post-surgical and ICU cardiac patients.
• Floating between Providence Health System facilities as needed.
• Compliance with holiday shifts and travel submission policies.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube assistance, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, IABP, and post cardiac surgery care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a short-term acute care hospital
• Unit runs an open heart program with 1-3 open heart patients per weekday, plus post-procedural cath lab patients (TAVR, Watchman, stenting) and general ICU patients (sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, GIB, COVID)
• Unit has 21 beds/rooms with an average daily census of 18-19
• Uses specialized equipment including ventilators, Impella, IABP, internal thermoregulation devices, and temporary pacemakers
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required between like units and between sister facilities within the health system
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used
• Provide critical care nursing to post-surgical, post-procedural, and general ICU cardiac patients
• Floating expected between St. Peter and Centralia facilities as needed
• Refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO should be kept under 7 days and requested upfront during submission
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Can only be submitted to one Providence Health System facility at a time
• Candidates with a pending license may be considered but quick starts are preferred
