American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Night Shift RN for a Stepdown Cardiac unit. Requires OH or compact RN license, BLS, NIHSS, and SD/PCU telemetry experience. Epic EMR experience is required and travel experience is preferred.

The role features 4x12 hour night shifts (19:00-07:30) with weekend/holiday requirements and potential for floating to Premier hospitals. Local candidates outside a 50-mile radius are not accepted. Housing and licensure reimbursements may be offered.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Stepdown Cardiac unit requiring prior SD/PCU telemetry experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience, with SD or PCU ratio experience specifically required (ICU experience does not qualify)
• Level 1 or 2 trauma center experience preferred
• Must be competent managing IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and Cardizem
• IV start and EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills required
• Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting
• Must complete lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of signing contract
• Fit testing for N95 required unless PAPR is provided
• Epic EMR experience required
• Travel experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Stepdown Cardiac unit within a hospital setting
• Typical patients include heart failure, chest pain rule out, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and drug/ETOH overdose and withdrawal cases
• Targeted patient ratios are 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating required to other units or nearby Premier hospitals based on census and skill set, including possible ED boarder support
• Uses Epic EMR
• Daily average unit census of 31
• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac and insulin drips
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Up to 24 hours of orientation modules are billable
• RTO must be requested at time of submittal, with a maximum of 14 days allowed per contract; no additional RTO will be negotiated after an offer is made
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience, though it is preferred
