American Traveler, LLC. is actively seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of adult ICU and ventilator experience for a night shift hospital position. The role requires EPIC experience, BLS and RRT certs, and travel eligibility, with preference for NRPs and Level I trauma familiarity. The travel assignment is for a 3x12 night shift with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience.
• Adult acute care ICU and ventilator experience required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• BLS and RRT certifications required.
• NRP certification preferred.
• State license required if applicable.
• Prior travel assignment experience required.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Night shift 3x12-hour schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required.
• No on-call requirements.
• No floating required outside of scope.
• Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, ED, and neonatal/pediatric populations.
• Ventilator management including weaning, troubleshooting alarms, and BiPAP/CPAP care.
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases.
• Airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning.
• Tracheostomy care and management.
• Chest physiotherapy including vest therapy.
• Bedside bronchoscopy assistance.

Responsibilities

• Level II basic nursery with bubble CPAP and short-term mechanical ventilation
• Uses Hamilton and Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators
• Charting performed in EPIC
• Provide respiratory care across adult critical care, emergency department, and neonatal/pediatric populations
• Perform ventilator management including weaning, troubleshooting alarms, and BiPAP/CPAP care
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases
• Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Perform tracheostomy care and management
• Perform chest physiotherapy including vest therapy
• Assist with bedside bronchoscopy
• Ceil blue scrub color required
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Local candidates within 70 miles are not accepted
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler and must take a 6-month break before returning
• RTO should be requested up front when possible; holiday and weekend rotation participation may be required
