• First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome.
• RTO ideally no more than 5 days.
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
• Housing may be limited; early housing search recommended.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 1+ year of adult critical care and emergency department experience for a night shift position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Requirements

• Active RRT and BLS certifications required
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Adult critical care and emergency department experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Experience with airway management devices including ET tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement/suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with nebulizer therapy including hand held, T-piece, and trach collar
• Experience with oxygen therapy including bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, T-piece, trach collar, and venturi masks
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Active Illinois license required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting within the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics department
• Adult critical care and emergency department patient population
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1800-0630)
• Works every other weekend
• On-call required as needed for the department
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Provide respiratory therapy and airway management services within a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital
• Work as part of the respiratory care team supporting adult critical care and emergency department patients
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Any solid color scrubs permitted
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO ideally no more than 5 days
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Housing may be limited in the area, so early housing search is recommended
