Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a day-shift adult critical care position in California. CA RRT licensure and ventilator management experience are required.

The role covers ER, ICU, and inpatient floors with a 1:4 patient ratio; no on-call; 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, one weekend per month. Travel experience and strong charting ability (Epic) are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Adult RRT required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• PALS and NRP certification required
• CA State RRT Licensure required if applicable
• NBRC certification preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Experience with arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis
• Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, nebulizers, and aerosol setups

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care across ER, RRT, Code Blue, medical/surgical floors, and ICU settings for adult patients
• Adult critical care and emergency department work settings
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic charting system experience required
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• One weekend required per month
• No on-call requirements
• Perform therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities
• Assess, treat, and evaluate patients while collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams to implement care plans
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and support groups to build trust and cooperation
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Returning employees must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Candidates must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
