American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) for a night shift contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Milwaukee. The role requires at least 1 year of experience and active credentials (RRT/CRT, BLS, ACLS) with license as applicable.

Responsibilities include 12-hour nights, a 36-hour workweek, and a 13-week assignment. You will work with Epic EMR and Pyxis, rotate across units, and support a high-acuity adult and geriatric patient population.

Qualifications

• RRT or CRT certification required/accepted.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Active license required if applicable.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy.
• Experience with vent management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABGs and related procedures.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 professional reference from supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN.
• Personal data (middle name/initial, DOB, last 4 SSN) required for consideration.

Requirements

• RRT or CRT accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Active license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skills in vent management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, a-line placement, assisting with intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Responsibilities

• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract assignment
• Respiratory Therapy Services department serving mostly geriatric and adult patients, with some pediatric cases in the ED
• Typical caseload of 10-15 patients for general floor assignments or 6-8 patients for ICU assignments
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis for medication dispensing
• Unit-specific equipment includes AVEA vents, Servo U Vent, LPU 1200 Vents, Parapack vents for MRI, and Hamilton vents for transport
• Floating required to all units within the hospital
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage assigned as needed
• Located in a Level III Trauma Center with a Level III NICU, Magnet designation, and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Work alongside other RTs, floor RNs, and department management/supervisory staff
• Day shift staffing includes 13-15 RTs for support
• Orientation includes facility NEO and at least one shift to learn unit flow
• Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Overtime may be available depending on facility needs
• Scrubs must be any solid professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking provided
• First‑time travelers considered upon review
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
