Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift hospital position in Louisiana with adult ICU and critical care responsibilities. Requires RRT NBRC, state license if applicable, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, plus 1–3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based respiratory therapy unit caring for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Night shift, approximately 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Floats between two facility locations with slightly varying shift times
• Patient ratio of 5 ventilator patients to one therapist
• Weekend work every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• No on-call requirement
• Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans under physician direction with minimal supervision
• Responds to Code Blue and Code White emergencies
• Performs airway management including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
• Delivers aerosolized drugs and manages ventilator setup and operation
• Manages airway support devices including BiPAP and CPAP
• Performs oxygen delivery device management and therapeutic monitoring
• Performs chest film analysis, blood gas collection and analysis, and EKG analysis
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation
• Cleans and stocks equipment and supplies as needed
• May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader
• May perform advanced practice duties including pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, and transport duties
• Gray scrubs required
• Returning employees who previously worked at this health system must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a travel assignment
