Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. The PCU RN will monitor and care for patients requiring close observation, perform routine bedside care, and manage medications in a fast-paced unit.

Ideal candidates have 1-2 years in acute care, BLS/NIH certifications, and are able to handle 12-hour shifts, 36 hours weekly, with travel requirements. This role emphasizes patient safety and teamwork in a staffed PCU setting.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of recent acute care experience
• BLS and NIH certifications required
• Travel assignment familiarity preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize cardiac patients
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications and report adverse reactions
• Monitor and interpret patient monitoring equipment and electronic displays
• Initiate corrective actions when monitoring data shows issues
