Certifications & Requirements

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1 year of experience with this patient population
• Licensure: License to Submit: Yes
• RN's exam: Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation requiring a 90% to pass
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Charge Nurse: Yes, but rare to take assignment
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• BSN Required: False
• Clinical Experience: Experience with intermediate care, downgraded CVICU patients, thoracic program support, EP, cath lab, structural heart, and management of cardiac and vascular related diagnoses
• Required Skills: Ability to titrate drips, read and interpret telemonitor strips. Common titratable drips include Amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, and other blood pressure medications
• Shift & Scheduling: Manager does schedule; 12-hour shifts
• Dress Code: Navy Blue
• Floating Requirements: Will float to all same level and lower levels of acuity
• Charting System: EPIC
