Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an MRI Technologist with ARRT MRI certification and 2+ years of experience to join a teaching facility setting. The MRI unit features a GE Optima 450w wide bore, with a community hospital environment and a 100-bed center.

You will perform 12–14 MRI exams daily, work 10-hour day shifts with flexible start times, and participate in on-call rotations including weekends and holidays, with potential cross-training in CT/X-ray.

• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required.

• Must be flexible with scheduling to accommodate variable shift start times.

Responsibilities

• Community-based hospital setting within a 100-bed medical center.
• MRI unit equipped with GE Optima 450w wide bore machine.
• Performs 12-14 exams per day, spaced ~45 minutes apart, hours 6:00 AM–10:30 PM.
• Primarily 10-hour day shifts with varying start times; occasional extensions to 9:30 PM.
• Uses Epic documentation system.
• On-call one night per week (10 PM–6 AM) and every 4th or 5th weekend.
• Weekend call rotation: 8 AM–12 PM Saturday/Sunday as needed.
• Holiday on-call coverage (8 AM–12 PM).
• Floating within radiology, fluoroscopy, OR, and off-site locations.
• May cross-train in CT/X-ray.
• Department staffed with 40+ techs; third shift often alone.
• Performs routine MRI exams; responsible for contrast injections.
• May float to surgery and perform fluoroscopy as needed.

• Uses Epic documentation system


• On-call requirement of one night per week (10 PM-6 AM) and every 4th or 5th weekend


• Weekend call rotation typically 8 AM-12 PM Saturday/Sunday as needed


• Holiday on-call coverage required (8 AM-12 PM)

• Scrubs of any color permitted with closed, non-skid shoes


• Minimal jewelry allowed per dress code, no artificial nails, and groomed hair/beard to accommodate mask wearing


• Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended as public transportation is not accessible in the area


• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April


• Bi-weekly orientation schedule with specific start dates


• Schedule may include Monday through Sunday coverage with no block scheduling


• Local candidates accepted


• Radius-based pay tiers apply based on direct-line mileage: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), travel (101+ miles)
