Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an MRI Technologist with 5+ years of relevant MRI experience to perform diagnostic imaging procedures in a hospital setting. The role features hospital-based work with 4x10 hour day shifts, Sunday 12:30 PM-11:00 PM and Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM-8:30 PM, with Fridays and Saturdays off.

The ideal candidate will hold CRT, ARMRIT or ARRT MRI certification (license if applicable) and a current BLS, and possess strong MRI knowledge, anatomy understanding, and patient

Qualifications

  • CRT/ARMRIT or ARRT MRI certification required; license if applicable.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant MRI experience.
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic MRI principles, procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and ability to explain procedures to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital-based MRI department operations.
  • 4x10 hour day shifts: Sun 12:30 PM-11:00 PM; Mon-Thu 10:00 AM-8:30 PM.
  • Off Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Performs diverse diagnostic MRI examinations and operates equipment.
  • Assists physicians with diagnostic MRI and guidance imaging during invasive procedures.
  • Explains procedures, medications and contrast effects to patients clearly.
  • Mentors and supports students and junior technologists.
  • Performs clerical tasks including phones, appointments, and EHR/LIS/RIS records.
  • Prepares accurate documentation for patients, procedures, and charges.
  • Implements ALARA radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure.
  • Maintains cleaning and safe working environment; cleans equipment after procedures.
  • Inspects/calibrates equipment and records QC results; reports malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Assists physicians with diagnostic MRI and guidance imaging during invasive procedures
  • Explains procedures, medications, and contrast media effects to patients in a clear and professional manner to alleviate fear and anxiety
  • Mentors and fosters a constructive environment for students and new technologists
  • Performs general clerical tasks including answering phones, updating patient appointments, and managing EHR, LIS, and RIS records
  • Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patients, procedures, and exam charges
  • Implements radiation safety protocols following ALARA standards to minimize exposure to self, staff, and patients
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each procedure
  • Inspects and calibrates equipment, records QC results, and reports malfunctions to supervisor
  • Accepts local candidates at local rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Returning staff or travelers must have a separation period of at least 1 year to be eligible to return
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
