Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners is seeking a Mohs Histology Technician to support diagnostic tissue evaluation in a traveling role across Plano, Dallas, and Corsicana, TX. The technician will perform embedding, microtomy, staining, mounting, and quality control in a Mohs laboratory setting.

The ideal candidate has lab experience, an associate degree, and preference for HT/HTL ASCP certification; strong attention to detail and knowledge of OSHA guidelines are essential.

Responsibilities

• Supports diagnostic evaluation of tissue by histological procedures.
• Embeds specimen and ensures proper orientation for representative sections.
• Operates microtome in cryostat, trims blocks, and places sections on slides with labels.
• Performs routine staining (H&E or T-Blue) and assesses staining quality.
• Identifies appropriate controls for immunohistochemistry and antigen retrieval when applicable.
• Mounts slides using appropriate mounting medium and ensures instrument maintenance.
• Prepares reagents, records quality control data, and ensures proper storage.
• Maintains safety practices per OSHA and universal precautions; participates in quality improvement.
• Maintains logbooks and assists in evaluating new procedures/equipment; performs other duties as assigned.
