Purpose:

The Mohs Histotechnician will be responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by providing high‑quality histological services within a dynamic clinical environment. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques
• Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination
• Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met
• Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records
• Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow
• Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures
• Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary
• Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge
• Other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology or a related field
• Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred
• Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
