Job summary

Universal Strategy Group Inc (USGI) in Newport News, VA, seeks a Financial Management Analyst to support Special Operations by overseeing travel management, ensuring Joint Travel Regulations compliance, and refining DoD travel processes.

You will assist with authorizations, vouchers, and amendments, analyze TPAX and WINIATS workflows, conduct reconciliations, and prepare dashboards to provide command-level visibility of travel expenditures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
• Minimum 2 years supporting classified government travel program and financial management systems
• Knowledge of Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), travel policy compliance, and DoD FMR
• Strong customer service, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Detail-oriented and able to excel in fast-paced environments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose improvements
• Ability to handle sensitive/classified information per DoD policy
• Familiarity with DoD reimbursement programs (e.g., Personally Procured Move)
• Must possess and maintain a current TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

• Provide exemplary customer service for travelers and officials
• Assist in development, validation, and processing of travel authorizations, vouchers, and amendments
• Analyze and streamline travel operations using TPAX, WinIATS, and related FM systems
• Conduct audits and reconciliations of travel transactions and implement corrective actions
• Advise on best practices, trends, and policy changes related to JTR and TPAX
• Support process-improvement initiatives and automated travel management solutions
• Prepare data reports and dashboards for decision-making and visibility of travel expenditures
• Coordinate with resource management, contracting, and logistics for payment-related issues
• Maintain SOPs and compliance records for audits
• Stay current on DoD travel policies and audit requirements
