Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele LPN with medical/surgical and telemetry experience for a 13-week night shift assignment on a busy 18-bed unit.

The role requires an active LPN license, current BLS, minimum 2 years of nursing, telemetry and surgical experience. Night shifts run 6:45 PM–7:15 AM; candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius and be willing to float as needed.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license required if applicable.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience required.
• Telemetry experience required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Proficient in peripheral IV starts, dressing changes, and standard medical/surgical skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on an 18-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit.
• Staffing includes charge RN, 2-3 RNs, 1 LPN, and 1-2 PCTs per shift.
• Patient ratio of 6:1.
• Uses Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, SCDs, and prima-fit/primo-fit devices.
• EMR system is Cerner PowerChart.
• Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.
• May float to other medical/surgical units or ED holding medical/surgical patients.
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Perform standard medical/surgical nursing duties including peripheral IV starts and dressing changes.
• Team-oriented environment valuing positive attitude and willingness to help others.
• Travelers are expected to float before permanent staff.
• Scrub attire must be navy/white; select combinations.
• Facility is Magnet-designated, Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center.
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted.
