American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Louisiana. Requires at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Requirements

• Active LA state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required, 3 years preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration), PCA, heparin, and insulin including IV insulin protocols
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, and pre/post neurosurgery patients
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure patients
• One professional reference required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit with MS/Tele capabilities
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Cardiac monitoring with telemetry - remote monitoring and Rapid Response/Code team use
• Floating within the hospital required as needed
• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg unit with telemetry monitoring capabilities
• Orientation spans 3 days including virtual training, on-site training, and EMR education
• Candidates must disclose any license disciplinary actions prior to consideration
• Recent professional cancellations will be reviewed prior to consideration
• Local candidates are not accepted; permanent residence must be greater than 50 miles from the facility
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Holiday time-off requests should be kept to a minimum
