Job summary

Venteon is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer in Canton, MI to lead complex engineering projects on-site with extensive travel (70-80%). You will review drawings, coordinate with electrical, mechanical, HVAC teams, and ensure QA/QC on all deliverables.

Strong PM and supervisory experience is essential. Applicants should have 3+ years in an industrial setting and be proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven field experience as an Operations Engineer, Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager, Project Engineer, or equivalent in an industrial environment.
• Willingness to travel extensively (70%-80% travel) and work on site for extended periods (2-4 weeks straight) as workload demands.
• Ability to lead from the front, and by example.
• Own and maintain a vehicle suitable for interstate travel.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
• Familiarity with industry rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Ability to interface with multidisciplinary project teams: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Concrete/Masonry, Rigging.
• Proven project management and supervisory skills.
• Advanced critical-thinking and decision-making ability.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Time management and organization skills.
• Willingness to work in unclean or uncomfortable environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of engineering design packages.
• Serve as the overall technical lead for assigned projects.
• Locate and review project-relevant engineering schematics/drawings.
• Complete engineering design reviews with customers and vendors.
• Work with municipalities and inspectors on permitted projects.
• Develop comprehensive resource plans based on project scopes.
• Engage vendors to support quoting, sourcing materials, and execution.
• Generate workflow plans for complex aspects of programs and assign responsibilities.
• Provide direction to teams of pipefitters and plumbers on installations.
• Provide direction to electricians and controls technicians on installations.
• Review technical reports before distribution to management or customer teams.
• Ensure work meets company standards and address issues with team or vendors.
• Monitor compliance to codes, QA/QC, and specifications.
• Provide guidance to Project Engineers and Team Leads.
