Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an Echo Technologist/Cardiac Sonographer with at least 2 years of cardiac experience to perform echocardiograms at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital. You will work day shifts, with weekend rotation and potential on-call duties in a high-volume setting.

The role requires a graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program, active registration in echocardiography, BLS, and the ability to meet daily scan targets while traveling to assignments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program.
• Registered in echocardiography (RDCS/ARDMS preferred).
• Minimum 1 year cardiac experience; 2-3 years preferred.
• BLS certification required; license if applicable.
• Prior travel experience and ability to meet daily scan targets.

Responsibilities

• Perform adult echo studies in acute care, outpatient, ICU and ED.
• Complete ~7 scans per day with various echo modalities.
• Utilize GE/Philips systems and PACS; document in Epic.
• Support variable start times, weekends and on-call rotations.
• Maintain strict PPE and infection control; pass telemetry exam.

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist/Cardiac Sonographer with at least 2 years of cardiac experience to perform echocardiograms at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year cardiac experience required; 2-3 years preferred
• Graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program required
• Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS); ARDMS RDCS AE or CCI RCCS preferred
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• License required if applicable
• IV certification preferred
• Level I and Level II trauma experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required; must be efficient and able to meet daily scan expectations
• Proficiency with isolation precautions/PPE and performing procedures on ICU/ED patients required

Responsibilities

• Day shift, 5x8-hour schedule, Monday through Friday with variable start times between 0700-0900
• Weekend rotation required to support coverage
• On-call rotation may be requested based on operational need
• Floating required as needed
• Performs adult echo studies in acute care, outpatient, ICU, and ED settings
• Expectation to complete 7 scans per day
• Procedures include 2-D, 3-D, and portable echo studies, bubble studies, color Doppler, M-mode, imaging with contrast agents, RVIT, and RVOT
• Calculations include diastology, LV strain/LV volume, proximal isovelocity surface area, and Simpson's Rule
• Uses GE and Philips ultrasound equipment and PACS system
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Perform diagnostic echocardiogram studies across adult acute care, outpatient, ICU, and ED settings
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and strict scoring criteria on adult and pediatric exams
• Up to two attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• References are not required for consideration
• Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital recognized as a leading referral center
