Job summary

Flagstar Nursing is seeking a travel CVOR Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Winston-Salem, NC. The Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician will support open-heart and other CVOR procedures, maintain sterile fields, and assist the surgical team in high-acuity cases.

Required are an accredited Surgical Technology program or AS degree, CST credential, BLS, and 2 years of cardiovascular OR experience. Travel compensation includes weekly pay and licensure reimbursement; 4x10 schedule on day

Qualifications

• Associate degree or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital operating room, specifically with cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgeries.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from NBSTSA required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) a plus.
• Previous experience in cardiovascular surgical procedures highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the scrub technologist for open-heart, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including CABG, valve repairs, aortic surgeries, and LVAD implantations.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, managing complex instrument sets, grafts, prosthetic valves, cannulas, and specialized disposables to ensure readiness for each case.
• Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies with precision and efficiency, anticipating the needs of the surgical team during high-stakes cardiac surgeries.
• Collaborate with perfusionists and circulating staff to set up and transition on bypass circuits, including pump priming and management of cardiopulmonary bypass.
• Ensure strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols throughout all procedures.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and maintaining sterile field integrity in high-pressure situations.
