University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking a Travel Assistant for the CGCA in the Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Complex. This student role supports travel and events, with hands-on experience in financial reporting, travel planning, and customer service, under the CGCA Assistant Director.

You will be on a hybrid schedule on campus and remotely, serving as a point of contact for staff and faculty travel, and gaining familiarity with UWM travel policies and Workday reporting.

Qualifications

  • Sophomore standing or greater
  • 3.0 GPA or greater
  • Ability to work approximately 15–20 hours per week
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Suite, Google for work, and Office 365

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for the Center’s staff and faculty travel processes
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the University's travel policies and apply them to travel planning and Workday reporting
  • Assist with data collection and entry in Workday (External committee member IDs, Spend authorization, Expense reports, Purchasing card tracking)
  • Ensure proper record management of Center's travel activities
  • Aid in the coordination of the Center's events
  • Provide coordination and support of non-research aspects of the Center’s operations

Job description

We are looking for an upbeat, organized, and dependable student to act as a Travel Assistant for The Leonard E. Parker Center for Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics (CGCA) located in the Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Complex at UWM, https://cgca.uwm.edu/.

This person will support administrative processes related to travel and events. The position offers skill building opportunities in financial reporting, travel planning, and customer service. We invite team players with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently to apply. This position reports to the CGCA Assistant Director, and provides a hybrid schedule of on campus and remote work.

Job duties include:
  • Serve as point of contact for the Center’s staff and faculty travel processes
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the University's travel policies and effectively apply them to travel planning and Workday reporting
  • Assist with data collection and entry in Workday, including:
    • External committee member IDs
    • Spend authorization approval
    • Expense reports
    • Purchasing card tracking
  • Ensure proper record management of Center's travel activities
  • Aid in the coordination of the Center's events
  • Provide coordination and support of non-research aspects of the Center’s operations
