Lake Huron Medical Center is a 139-bed community hospital providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services to residents of St. Clair and Sanilac counties. Responsibilities

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for collecting, completing, and verifying the accuracy of patient data from the Trauma Registry system. This role supports quality assurance and improvement efforts by creating and maintaining clinical and statistical data, including AIS coding and abstracting data elements as required by the American College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Data Bank, the Trauma Program, and DRMC Hospital. The Registrar provides data and statistical reports to the Trauma Coordinator monthly and upon request. Additionally, the Registrar may assist with trauma outreach efforts as time permits. The position reports directly to the Trauma Coordinator and adheres to trauma registry standards.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  2. Current BLS certification upon hire, with ongoing maintenance required.
  3. Proficiency in typing, computer literacy, and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  4. At least 3 years of clinical healthcare-related experience.
  5. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  6. Trauma database training is preferred.
  7. Knowledge of basic anatomy and data entry skills.
  8. ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding, E-codes, and Injury Severity Scoring experience are preferred.
  9. Understanding of quality assurance and process improvement is preferred.
  10. Experience with data analysis and report writing is desired.
  11. Successful completion of the Certification Examination for Trauma Registrars (CSTR) is preferred.
