Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking an unlicensed assistive personnel to support registered nurses in delivering compassionate patient care. You will assist with daily activities, vital signs, basic tests, and safe patient handling, while maintaining a safe and clean care environment.

Under supervision, you will help with procedures, transfers, transport of specimens, and coordination of patient flow, ensuring timely and patient-centered service in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist direct patient care with basic physical tasks as directed by RN.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and bed care.
• Safely transport patients and escorts for tests and discharge.
• Perform routine tests (glucose, urine/stool) and maintain logs per policy.
• Conduct routine phlebotomy and record vital signs and measurements.
• Provide respiratory support and assist with oxygen delivery as needed.
• Support with examinations and procedures alongside physicians and RN.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and report equipment issues promptly.
