Job summary

Sutherland is seeking an inpatient coder focused on Trauma 1 facility inpatient services. You will assign and sequence the correct diagnostic and procedure codes for third‑party payors and, when necessary, obtain clarifications for conflicting or non‑specific documentation.

The role requires at least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting, and RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CIC certification. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and research skills and

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a Trauma 1 setting.
• Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS and/or CIC.
• Strong communication, analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with EMR systems and encoders; ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret complex records to identify and accurately bill for Trauma 1 inpatient services.
• Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes per third‑party payor requirements.
• Seek clarifications when documentation is conflicting, ambiguous, or non‑specific.
