Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to support a Level I Trauma hospital system overseeing 12 acute care facilities. This role will start as a 3-month contract but may extend or convert to full-time.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of inpatient hospital coding experience on the facility side.
• Experience coding for a level 1 trauma facility.
• RHIT or CCS AHIMA certification.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT; coding compliance policies, guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical terminology.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes through full inpatient record review, ensuring correct DRG assignment and compliance.
• Code inpatient cases across multiple facilities while meeting quality and productivity standards.
• Utilize Streamline Health Evaluator and review system-identified flags to resolve documentation or coding issues.
• Validate all codes against official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Collaborate with coding leadership and peers by incorporating feedback and participating in quality improvement efforts.
• Navigate EPIC to review clinical documentation, operative reports, and discharge summaries.
