Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey is seeking a YESS to support young people with strength-based, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction focused approaches. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe, inclusive environment and engage youth in activities while documenting progress in HMIS/ETO.

The role includes crisis de-escalation, coordinating with case management, and guiding youth toward success plan goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field preferred.
• Experience with youth 18–24 who are homeless or trafficking vulnerable is preferred.
• Knowledge of NJ public benefits and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide unconditional positive regard to youth and support case management.
• Welcome youth, explain program structure and access to supplies.
• Build supportive relationships and connect youth to opportunities and resources.
• Document intake, orientation, transitions into HMIS/ETO, and progress notes.
• Facilitate youth activities and assist with daily program tasks and transport.
