Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey seeks an Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) to engage youth 18-24, provide trauma-informed support, and implement success plans. The role involves crisis intervention, documentation in HMIS/ET0, and coordinating daily activities within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a related field, NJ driver’s license, strong communication, and willingness to work overnight shifts 10:00 PM–8:00 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or related field required or preferred.
Experience with youth ages 18-24 who are homeless or trafficked preferred.
Knowledge of NJ public benefits and community resources.
Must be a self-starter and team player with strong communication.
Knowledge of adolescent development and ability to build rapport with youth.
Excellent written and verbal communication; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Valid NJ driver’s license and good driving record; may transport clients.

Responsibilities

Provide unconditional positive regard to youth and support trauma-informed care.
Assist Case Management with engagement, goal setting, and progress tracking.
Document in HMIS/ET0 systems and complete daily progress notes.
Facilitate youth activities, crisis de-escalation, and safety protocols.
Cover front desk and assist with transportation as needed.
Support fundraising events and agency communications as required.
