Job summary

Covenant House Illinois (CHIL) seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist to join the residential team. You will provide direct, individualized care to youth in residential and drop-in programs, using trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches.

The role requires crisis management, documentation in ETO, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include engaging youth, facilitating groups, assisting with meals, and supporting diverse youth populations, including LGBTQIA+

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree with 2+ years in social services.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage youth in daily activities with empathy and respect.
• Support youth using trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and positive youth development.
• Create and implement individualized success plans for Relentless Engagement.
• Serve meals and prepare lunch bags when kitchen staff are unavailable.
• Conduct wanding and bag checks to maintain facility safety.
• Document shift notes, interactions, and progress in agency systems (ETO).
• Assist with YDC intakes and ensure shift duties are completed.
• Facilitate group services and escort youth to appointments.
