Job summary

180 Degrees, Inc. is hiring a full-time Youth Advocate at the Rochester Youth Shelter in Rochester, MN. You will be the steady, caring adult on shift, building trust with teens and supporting stabilization and healing.

Responsibilities include milieu management, de-escalation, daily living support, basic health and documentation tasks, and close teamwork with case managers to create a consistent, safe experience for youth. This is an on-site role with a strong mission.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age minimum.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; ability to drive company vehicle.
• Ability to pass a criminal background study.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• Must be able to lift, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stairs.
• Must be able to walk regularly, incl. stairs, for safety checks.
• Must perform essential duties and basic documentation electronically.

Responsibilities

• Be a stabilizing, trustworthy presence for youth navigating trauma and instability.
• Build genuine relationships so youth feel seen, safe, and supported.
• Manage day-to-day shelter rhythm: milieu, structure, and support.
• De-escalate calmly when emotions escalate.
• Assist with daily living needs as healing starts with basics.
• Support medication management and health needs.
• Collaborate with Youth Advocates and staff to ensure consistent care.
• Document work clearly to support case management goals.
