Maya Angelou Academy (YSC) in Washington, DC is seeking a Dedicated Aide to provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with disabilities in a secure juvenile detention setting. You will implement IEP/BIP accommodations and collaborate with instructional and carceral staff to promote engagement and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or 60 college credits preferred.
• Paraprofessional certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with at-risk or justice-involved youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instructional support to the assigned student throughout the school day.
• Assist with accessing grade-level curriculum and completing assignments.
• Implement IEP/BIP accommodations and behavioral interventions.
• Maintain safety and professional boundaries in a juvenile detention setting.
• Collaborate with teachers, carceral staff, and other school personnel; document progress and incidents.
