Maya Angelou Academy (YSC) seeks a Dedicated Aide to provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to a student with disabilities in a DC detention school. You will implement IEP/BIP accommodations and support engagement while maintaining professional boundaries with correctional staff.

Work under instructional staff supervision to promote independence, emotional regulation, and safe, trauma-informed instruction in a secure setting with collaboration across educators,

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree or 60 college credits preferred.
• Paraprofessional certification preferred or ability to obtain.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience with at-risk/justice-involved youth.

Mansioni

• Provide one-on-one instructional support to the assigned student throughout the day.
• Implement accommodations and behavioral interventions from IEP/BIP.
• Support student engagement, self-regulation, and transitions in a secure setting.
• Collaborate with general and special education staff and carceral personnel.
• Document participation, behavior, progress, and incidents accurately.
